Hi world! My name is Donna aka Nanny Sharpz. The nickname came from when I worked at Girl Scout Camp under the nickname Sharpie so it's kind of become one of my identities.
I'm 24 years old and have a degree in elementary education and love to work with children. I currently live in Orange County, NY where I grew up. I did move away when I was 15 to be adopted by a family in PA but have since moved around a lot to find my way back home. However, I'm ready for my next big adventure and it's almost time to start!
On Monday, I will be moving to Westchester County, NY where I will be moving into the basement apt belonging to a host family who is need of a nanny for their twin 4 year old boys. Their current nanny is from Germany and has been with them for a year so I have some pretty big shoes to fill. The mother and I hit it off over the phone after finding each other through a nanny/au pair site where host families and prospective nannies can find each other. So on July 11th I went to meet the family in their home and was awestruck at how adorable the boys are. The host parents are amazingly nice and come from a large Italian family. I really believe this is going to be a great fit.
So as I said, Monday I will be moving in and will be getting to work with the other nanny for a week or so before she leaves so I can get a feel for the activities the boys like to do and how their basic schedule goes. I am glad for this chance to observe so that I can see what I feel comfortable with and what I will have to work on.
So as this is a new adventure for me, I thought it would be kind of fun to blog about my adventures in nannying from here on out. I appreciate any feedback and welcome any questions.
Please do note that in order to protect the privacy of the family, I will not be giving out names of the family members and will use code names:
Host mother: HMommy
Father: HDaddy
Twin1
Twin 2
Well that's it for now! I will probably post again Monday night! Take care and have a great weekend!!
